Shoreacres Golf Club
Shoreline Stabilization Project
Shoreacres Golf Club in Lake Bluff, IL is a nationally-ranked private course that was established over one hundred years ago. Shoreacres’ defining characteristics are the ravines which are woven into the landscape and the stately clubhouse overlooking Lake Michigan. Its charming lakeside location provides incredible vistas for members and guests, but also exposes the property to severe erosion and the potential for landslide.
In the fall of 2016, Shoreacres Golf Club initiated a shoreline stabilization project to repair their compromised seawall and eroding bluff. Four contractors were selected for their unique areas of specialization, including restoration contractor CLS. Construction began in December of 2016 by clearing overgrowth and vegetation on the bluff and placing offshore stone to fortify the seawall. After the bluff was stabilized with revetment stone, crews installed a soil cap topped with erosion control and then planted vegetation.
The construction phase of the Shoreacres shoreline stabilization project was completed in June 2017. CLS will continue work at this site by monitoring and promoting native species growth and controlling/removing invasive species.
